Upland - Focus on Agriculture - 2060

Upland Landscape - in 2060 if the focus is on agriculture:

Land use across the area is driven by prevailing agricultural and food security policies, together with market and economic conditions that favour the maintenance of a high level of agricultural production.

The focus on food production, together with the warmer, drier summers, has led to a wider range of agricultural production in the landscape, including vineyards, oilseed rape and commercial deer production. Livestock require sunshade structures and additional water sources and some arable crops require the introduction of summer irrigation systems with associated on-farm water storage facilities (filled from appropriate sources during the wetter winter periods).
